Matisse in the House-Jerome Academy School #9-Art teacher Mr. Marco Muñoz Jaramillo
The imagination as vast as the universe is all encompassing. Matisse's (French Artist) genius comes down to this fact, he understands and sees beyond the materials to produce some of the most breathtaking works of art ever. Taking "color paper" cutting it into forms and shapes then placing them over blank backgrounds in creating the "The Swimming Pool Swimmers" is the simplest of treatments in painting that I know of. It reinforces the childlike play of color and form. Here, Mr. Muñoz Jaramillo takes students on a journey into the mind of Matisse. Here the students use cut paper to produce an aquarium with the same intensity as in the famed painting "Swimmers" of the artist Matisse.
